City landscapes are constantly changing as buildings, bridges and roads are constructed either as new or replacement infrastructure. Architectural styles change as rapidly as the building themselves, so it is inevitable that new and traditional styles are found side by side in some areas. These juxtapositions offer photographers excellent subject matter and opportunities because they can be used in a number of ways. A modern glass-and-steel structure standing next to a centuries-old church might be used as an indicator of a thriving and energetic city or as an example of the abuse heaped upon fines structures from the past.
